Used Hosiery: Bungee Cord Replacements #1

Generally speaking bungee cords are used for things which need to be tied down snugly and securely. However, there are times, when you will need to use some kind of cord that expands and contracts to fit a task, and the cord will not need to pull very hard.

Read the remainder of my post for how to use hosiery instead of bungee cords.

For the next few weeks, I will blog about how you can make the best use of your damaged hosiery, when using them instead of bungee cords.

;^P You might be able to save yourself about a dollar, if you put in a couple days of work. ;^P At least, you can make use of your damaged hosiery. Remember, for every bungee cord that you do not buy, you can buy a pair of hosiery.

The simplest way to prepare your hosiery for your task is to take a pair of full length hosiery [i.e. pantyhose or tights] and then tie the feet together to make a nice loop. You could use the loop in anyway that is convenient to you.

To use stockings or knee highs, I recommend that you tie 1 foot to the other top and vice versa.

;^P I know, this is so surprising. ;^P It took me months of lab work to discover this! ;^D

Seriously, though, come back next week, when I will give you a suggestion on how to develop your loop a bit to make them a little more useful.

  1. It is not an easy task to utilize old pantyhose. I've tried to make yarn once and it took forever to cut strips and tie them together. The final result wasn't too pretty. :)

  2. Pantyhose yarn? That's dedication. I wonder if there is an easier way to do it.
